Val’s dedication to yoga and daily meditation practice came about as she began to explore new ways to work through grief and stagnant energy. Yoga came at a time when Val was fractured; reeling from the grief of losing both of her parents within a four month span, being laid off from a long-term, high stress corporate job and suffering from debilitating back pain and depression. She had once been a competitive runner and all around sports enthusiast and now found herself completely broken. That’s when yoga happened! Val had a serendipitous encounter with an energy healer who went on to become her yoga mentor. She learned the healing power of subtle energies combined with breath and movement. Piece by piece they glued her mind, body and spirit back together and from that moment on, a love affair with yoga and a commitment to inspiring others began. Val completed her 200 hr. teaching certification through Peace Love and Yoga in 2014 followed by PLAY’s Living Beyond The Mat New Teacher Mentorship Program. Val’s commitment is to inspire others to move forward and to step fully into their most brilliant self. She believes in challenging her students to open themselves fully to the opportunities that present themselves on and off the mat by practicing kindness in all things, having hope and being present.
