Meet Romeo Villareal; A dedicated yogi, sailor, triathlete, experienced hiker, and a fabulous chef. He is a kind, fun and free-spirited man who is a pleasure to know both on and off the mat! We sat down with Romeo and asked him to tell us a little about himself and about how he found his way to his mat at Peace Love and Yoga.
Who is he?I have been a North County resident most of my life, as I grew up in Vista. I have been fortunate to have traveled all over the world, but I call San Diego my home because it’s just about the best place on earth.
What Makes him Tick?I love learning and always will welcome a challenge. I have a thirst for knowledge and the energy and drive needed to realize that thirst.
What he does for a living?Owner / Executive Chef Baja Sessions Catering
What he enjoys out of the kitchen?Competitive offshore sailing, yoga, surfing, skiing, hiking…etc. Currently most of my free time is committed to training to climb Kilimanjaro in Jan 2014.
Why he loves yoga?Outside of yoga I am considered “intense” by others, so Yoga helps me stay mindful. It allows me to appreciate the past, live in the present, while staying mindful of the future.
What his favorite pose is?Anything inverted!
Why he loves PLAY?I was inspired to come to PLAY by my friend and mentor Garry Alesio. I feel at home at PLAY and always feel welcomed by both my fellow yogis and teachers. As for those of you who get the honor of practicing next to me – be ready for a few laughs and a lot of sweat!
Thank you Romeo for sharing your practice, and your story. You are always a pleasure to have in class. See you on the mat!
