Meet one of our favorite yogis, Jennifer Cooper. Jennifer is fun, witty and a dedicated yogi. She has been practicing yoga for for 10 years and enjoys all styles, especially heated vinyasa flow. We sat down with Jennifer to find out a little bit more about her and her what yoga means to her.
I’m a User Experience Designer for Bank of America – (I make pictures of websites for someone else to build).
I’m still trying to figure out who I am 😉
I moved around a lot when I was young I guess that’s what started my wanderlust. I moved from the east coast to the west coast just because I’ve always wanted to live out here. The world is fascinating. I love experiencing life and just want to see and do and try anything and everything that comes my way.
Everyone who’s into yoga has their own story about how they started. Mine spanned over a decade before I took my first yoga class. I looked up or came across the word Om back in the late 90s before I had ever heard of yoga (I am from many small towns) OM is….The sound of creation. The vibration of the universe. It resonated with me (no pun intended) on some deep level. Years later I bought a glass pendant with a symbol on it. Which I now know is the symbol of Om written in Devanagari. I took my first yoga class in March of 2006. I remember thinking I was exactly where I needed to be and there is no doubt in my mind that I was lead there over period of time..time for me to find it when I was ready to find it.
Asking why yoga is like asking why your favorite color is blue (mine is purple by the way). How can you put it into words? I simply love it!
Yoga doesn’t try to teach any one spiritual path it just teaches you how to practice being healthy, strong, loving yourself and loving the world and by becoming better at those things you become closer to your divine, who or whatever that may be. Yoga is for everyone!!
