A Simple Detox Plan (aka cleaning up your act) by Catherine Mazur

We’ve heard about it. We know we should. And although it’s not especially appealing, it is certainly worth consideration. A detox.

Forest HeadstandThere are huge benefits of doing good cleanse, mainly, a healthier body and a clearer mind. Compelling reasons. With the multitude cleanses and detox programs out there, how do we choose which to use? What are the first baby steps that we can take?

Here are 4 simple steps to get started.

1) Eat close to the earth

I’m not talking about picnicking, I’m talking about processing. Choose real foods that come from the ground or grow on trees and plants. Foods you see in nature, not from a box or package. This means fruits, veggies and whole grains. When we eliminate processed foods (crackers don’t grow on trees) from our regular diet, the body functions properly and begins to detox and cleanse itself.

2) Be raw

As much as possible, include raw foods in your daily intake. Lots of salads, fresh fruit, nuts and seeds. Raw food provides high nutritional value and much needed fiber to scrub your insides clean!

3) Clean a closet

Or a drawer. Better yet, your pantry. Throw out fake food like diet soda and GMO cereals. Get rid of things that clutter your life and mind; things that detract from your clarity rather than enhance it. Sometimes this can be a relationship that weighs you down. Taking stock of what you surround yourself with, and letting go of the toxic elements is tremendously cleansing.

4) Wring it out

Go to a yoga class regularly to fire up your digestive juices and jump start your elimination system. A practice that includes lots of twists, like revolved triangle, and binds, like bird of paradise, will flush out your innards and speed up your detox process. A heated class literally helps you sweat it out!

Simple, right? Okay then, pick one of these steps and do it today. Today. As in today. You will feel good about yourself and your body will love you for it.
